Research

Various aspects of microbial ecology and environmental microbiology and virology, with emphasis on the role of surfaces in the activity, ecology, and population dynamics of microorganisms, especially in soil. Fate, gene transfer, and effects of genetically modified microbes in natural environments. Persistence and ecological effects of the insecticidal toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis in soil, especially when bound on clays and humic substances. Effects of heavy metals on procaryotic and eucaryotic cells.
